Elphinstone Road Station Stampede: At least 22 people have been reported dead while more than 50 have been injured in a stampede at Mumbai’s Elphinstone railway station, news agency ANI reports. As per the reports, the incident took place at the foot overbridge of the railway incident. The casualties figure is not final and is likely to go up. The real reason for the mishap is not clear, however, it is being reported that since there are two exits of the station, it led to the stampede. No official statement on the number of deaths has been received yet. The Elphinstone Road Station is one of the most crowded railway stations of Mumbai. Gayatri Jayraman, an author, retweeted one of her tweet that date backs to 2014. In her tweet she had warned that an stampede can happen anytime. “Commuters have been coping with this for years! Ministers dont commute else theyd know. Shame on @Dev_Fadnavis @RailMinIndia #elphinstone,” she said.
