Former MasterChef Mexico contestant Yanin Campos, who also rid the viral fame wave as an influencer and TikTok star, had unfortunately passed away. She was just 38 years old.
Her brother, Raul Campos, shared the heartbreaking announcement via a translated Facebook post this week. The cooking competition show alum died on Monday, August 4, 2025. Local reports indicated that the Campos family suffered the massive tragedy at the hands of a car accident.
The Mexican Secretariat of Public Security told local newspaper El Financiero that Yanin was driving in Chihuahua, Mexico, when she reportedly lost control of the car and collided with a parked vehicle at around 6:30 am on August 2. Despite being rushed to a local facility, Hospital del Parque, Yanin passed away two days after being admitted for medical aid.

Campos shot to fame after appearing on the fourth season of MasterChef in 2018, as per EOnline. She eventually finished sixth in the cooking TV show. Thereafter, she was welcomed back to participate in MasterChef: La Revancha” and compete against some of her fellow former contestants.
Before going viral on social media and attaining fame, she was training as a nurse.
She went by @yanin_chefmx on Instagram, where a MasterChef snap is displayed as her profile picture. She has more than 76,000 followers on IG. Over on X, she had the username @YaninChefMx, boasting over 43,000 followers.
Additionally, her TikTok, which documented various bits of her life, has nearly 100,000 followers.
Her final post on X, formerly Twitter, came on August 2 morning (US time). Still available on the platform, it translates to: “Be careful what you tolerate… you’re showing people how to treat you.”

Fans from across the world jumped into her social media posts’ comments section to celebrate her life.
“I’m sorry that I didn’t get to know you, I watch all cooking shows that I can. Very sorry for the loss, just to soon. My condolences to family and friends and fans, may you rest in peace,” someone wrote on Instagram under one of her final posts.
“It will never cease to amaze me how ridiculously fragile life is,” someone wrote in a translated comment on her most recent TikTok. “Right now it’s just a normal day, but in a few seconds everything will change forever, and you won’t even realize it. You’ll just know it’s the end, or sometimes not even that.”
