Due to a mass shooting that occurred on Sunday in a Rochester park in upstate New York, seven people were shot, out of which one is dead and the other six are injured. Rochester police said they rushed to Maplewood Park at 6:20 p.m. to reports of shots fired and discovered numerous victims with gunshot wounds.

According to Capt. Greg Bello, an adult in their twenties was fatally shot, another person suffered a life-threatening injury, and five people were hospitalised with minor injuries. As per the reports, the victim’s identity has not yet been released due to family notification.

Several police agencies responded to the park, including Irondequoit Police, Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Rochester Police, and New York State Police. Rochester police confirmed a party was present. “At this point we don’t know how many people were shooting. We are trying to work our way through as many witnesses as we can,” Bello said.

Police stated no suspects were in custody. Police encouraged anybody with video of the incident to report it to Major Crimes, contact Crime Stoppers, or phone 311 or 911 with any information.

The gunfire interrupted a large gathering within the park, leading the audience to run in a chaotic scene, according to a supposed video of the incident posted on social media.

Rochester is approximately 340 miles (547 km) northwest of Manhattan.
