Shots were fired at Kaps Cafe in Canada on Thursday evening — the second such incident in less than a month. The eatery launched by comedian Kapil Sharma had reopened in late July after suffering damage during the previous attack. At least six bullets were fired at the building in Surrey — with shattered glass visible at the scene. Cafe employees had been present within the premises when the attack took place — much like the previous incident.

According to reports, residents were jolted awake early on Thursday morning by the sound of multiple gunshots. The cafe was hit by at least six bullets which also shattered glass its windows. The Surrey Police also arrived at the scene soon after the reports of gunfire. Officials later confirmed that the SPS Frontline Investigative Support team had taken over the probe and urged the public to assist their investigation. Authorities have not yet identified a motive behind either attack.

Local media reports quoting eyewitnesses indicated that six to eight shots had been fired early in the morning — waking up some of the neighbours. The police had arrived at the scene soon after the attack. Officials confirmed that staff were present inside the premises during the shooting on Thursday. However, no injuries have been reported.

Lawrence Bishnoi gang claiming responsibility?

A social media post went viral soon after the attack — allegedly shared by gangster Goldy Dhillon and attributed to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. There has been no independent confirmation of their claim and investigation remains underway. Local media reports also noted that the successive attacks against Kap’s Cafe come amid rising extortion threats reportedly targeting members of the South Asian business community in Surrey.

“Jai Shri Ram… aaj jo Kapil Sharma ke Kap’s Cafe, Surrey mein firing hui hai, iski zimmedari Goldy Dhillon te Lawrence Bishnoi gang leti hai… next karwai jald hi Mumbai mein karenge, (Goldy Dhillon and Lawrence Bishnoi gang take responsibility for today’s firing at Kap’s Cafe in Surrey, we will now do this in Mumbai next),” the post read.
