India on Monday firmly rejected remarks made by Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei about the treatment of minorities in India, labeling the comments as “baseless and unwarranted.”

External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal emphasized that nations raising concerns about minorities in India should first review their “own track record” before criticizing others.

“We categorically reject the remarks made about minorities in India by the Supreme Leader of Iran. These are baseless and unwarranted,” Jaiswal stated.

“Nations raising concerns about minorities are urged to examine their own track record before casting judgment on others,” he added.

Addressing a gathering in Tehran on Monday, the Iranian leader referred to the alleged “plight” of Muslims in Gaza, Myanmar, and India.

“The enemies of Islam have always sought to weaken our sense of unity as an Islamic Ummah. We cannot truly call ourselves Muslims if we ignore the hardships faced by fellow Muslims in #Myanmar, #Gaza, #India, or elsewhere,” he wrote on ‘X’ in a series of posts from the event.
