CBS White House reporter, Olivia Rinaldi, was preparing to go live on air when she learned about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s engagement. Her reaction, shocked and animated, was recorded by the cameraperson. After CBS announced their engagement, they posted the off-air moment on social media, and it has since gone viral.

What does the viral video show?

The now-viral video opens to show Rinaldi scrolling through Instagram when she came across Taylor Swift’s engagement post. Her mouth drops open in shock as she swipes through the pictures Swift had posted. 

As the video goes on, she exclaims, “Taylor Swift is engaged.” Then she points at her phone’s screen and repeats the words again: “Taylor Swift is engaged.”

She then urges the cameraperson to “come back to her”, adding, “She just posted it.”

For several seconds hereon, she repeatedly exclaims, “Oh my God!” as she couldn’t believe her eyes. 

“This is huge. The ring is ginormous. This is so exciting,” she adds as her facial expressions light up with joy.

“It’s on her Instagram,” she tells the cameraperson again, followed by another round of “Oh my God!”

The CBS White House reporter then quips, “I feel like Paul Revere right now.”

“This is a very important moment for me in my professional career,” she says to chuckles with studio anchor Reed Cowan, “because I get to announce that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are engaged”.

Cowan from the studio adds, “All right, Swifties for Life. I have a feeling, though, based on his prior statements, the president will not be having a Taylor Swift wedding in the Ballroom, hopefully that can shift and change,” before asking, “We can have some world peace, right?”

After Cowan mentions the wedding, Rinaldi offers, “I volunteer to cover it. Just in case you need…I’ll be there to cover it.”

Taylor Swift’s engagement announcement

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, in a joint Instagram post, announced their engagement news. The post, which has already clocked 25.4 million hearts, carries the caption: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.” She completed this with a dynamite emoji. 

Swift carefully chose the words “English teacher” and “gym teacher” for the Instagram post’s caption. Taylor Swift is likened to the English teacher because of her literary, poetic songwriting style and “English teacher vibes” noted by Swifties for years. On the other hand, Travis Kelce, a football player, is likened to the gym teacher given his athletic profession.

One of the loved-up pictures shows Kelce on his knees while Swift stands. Another shows them standing facing each other, with Kelce’s hands on her waist and Swift’s hands on his face. 

The third picture shows the big engagement ring on Swift’s finger. The fourth shows them hugging each other. 

The fifth and the last picture shows Kelce and Swift sitting on a bench, with Swift’s legs resting on Kelce’s lap.
