A Mumbai-based financial institution has found itself at the centre of social media mockery after making a glaring error in its LinkedIn job post. Artha Group listed an on-site opening for an “Associate – Founder’s Office (Finance)”, outlining the job responsibilities, compensation, and benefits.  However, it wasn’t the role that caught everyone’s attention, it was the salary miscalculation.

The company listed an impressive Rs 26 LPA package, highlighting the opportunity to work directly with the founder and gain “unparalleled access to high-stakes investment decisions”.

However, under the “compensation and benefits” section, things took a bizarre turn. The company offered a monthly salary of Rs 20 lakh – a figure that far exceeds the supposed annual package. Not just this, they also mentioned an annual retention bonus of Rs 3.25 lakh and an ESOP grant of the same amount.

Irony is not lost on the Internet

The Internet was quick to point out the irony, with many joking that the company “really needs a finance guy”. One social media user sarcastically praised the company’s “acute attention to detail” highlighting how they added an extra zero in the salary.

“I like the last requirement in skillset and then a way to test the same in CTC description,” one Twitter (now X) user said.

A screenshot of the job posting is all over social media, prompting more hilarious takes. Yet another X user commented, “20 lakhs salary for the first month, 6.5 lakhs for the second month and then firing.”

“Interesting that they will pay the salary for entire year in a month,” quipped a fourth social media user.

One even joked, saying, “The maths ain’t mathing.”

Company responded to the viral job posting

In response to the viral job posting, which was shared 21 hours ago, the company admitted an “honest mistake” on its part.

“A recent job post on LinkedIn went live with an accidentally aspirational salary—an honest mistake that the internet was quick to catch. We appreciate the enthusiasm it sparked,” the company said in a statement.

It added, “In an era where AI is perfecting everything, it’s refreshing to see that the human touch still exists, sometimes in the form of an extra zero. We set high standards for ourselves, and we love that our community does too. After all, attention to detail is in our DNA—as we are only human. This moment, while unintended, has been a reminder of just how engaged and observant people are when it comes to career opportunities. It also underscores the demand for meaningful roles in high-growth industries like venture capital—where precision and vision go hand in hand.”
