A 30-year-old man currently living in Europe with his wife has shared on Reddit his plans to return to India with 60 lakhs in savings, aiming to quit the corporate rat race and focus on home management and local development. He described his native town in Tamil Nadu as “incredibly scenic and peaceful” and expressed a desire to contribute to society by promoting tourism and creating local opportunities.

Wife’s Career and Personal Goals Aligned

“My wife is a cybersecurity professional with solid experience, and she’s open to continuing her career from India,” he wrote. “On my end, I’ve been seriously thinking of quitting the corporate rat race completely and taking on the role of a house husband — managing the home, supporting her, and channeling my energy toward something more meaningful.”

Hometown Development and Practical Challenges

The Redditor outlined his ambition to develop his hometown into a small tourism hub. “It’s a hidden gem, completely ignored despite its natural beauty. If it were in Europe, it would’ve already been a tourist magnet. I’d like to change that in whatever way possible — promoting it, organizing events, creating local opportunities, etc.,” he said. He added that he is financially stable with no debts and has strong family support. He sought advice from others who have made similar unconventional moves, asking about practical challenges and tips for successfully settling back in India.

One user said, “If your post was 6 crore, it would’ve been a no brainer. In this economy, 60L won’t be sufficient.”

Another said, “Not a good idea. You can go to Sri Lanka or Thailand. Avoid India with this mindset and idea.”
