Best-selling author and entrepreneur Adrian Brambila recently shared a viral post on Facebook detailing how he turned his financial anxiety into clarity with the help of ChatGPT. In a world increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence, Brambila decided to try a novel experiment by giving his income details to ChatGPT and asking it to guide his financial planning.

What did Brambila say about financial planning?

“Just 7 prompts and total clarity over my money,” he wrote. What followed was a simple, stress-free financial routine that didn’t rely on apps, spreadsheets, or expensive advisors. For Brambila, this wasn’t just budgeting it was, in his words, “taking control of my life.”

Breaking down the seven-step AI plan

Brambila used ChatGPT to create a zero-based budget that gave every dollar a purpose,  divide his monthly income using the 50/30/20 rule, making the system feel tailored to his lifestyle, design a monthly cash flow tracker for clear visibility of spending and income, calculate monthly savings targets tied to personal goals, write a quick weekly check-in to build habits and maintain momentum, outline a simple three-step investing strategy for beginners and build a repeatable monthly system with no tech dependency or financial stress.

Each step contributed to what Brambila described as “clarity = peace of mind.”

What is the 50/30/20 rule?

One of the standout features of Brambila’s plan was the use of the 50/30/20 rule, a budgeting guideline. It suggests dividing income as 50% on needs (housing, food, transport, etc.), 30% on wants (dining out, hobbies, entertainment) and 20% on savings and debt repayment.

This method creates a structured yet flexible system, helping individuals align spending with priorities without the rigidity of itemised spreadsheets.

Reactions to financial planning via ChatGPT

Brambila’s post sparked curiosity and concern. One user asked if AI could eventually replace tax professionals or lawyers. “Can Ai be used to do taxes or could it theoretically be used in replacement of a lawyer ?”

Others urged caution about sharing sensitive financial data with AI platforms. “Probably shouldnt be putting personal information into chatgpt.”
