Strong reactions on social media
Fuentes’s comments have attracted sharp criticism from many and some of them have condemned his racially charged statement. Political analysts and commentators have highlighted that Ramaswamy was born in the United States, making the statement factually incorrect along with being derogatory.
Ramaswamy himself addressed the controversy by replying, ‘’Spoken like a true Kamala Harris voter.’’ His comment was widely shared online. Another supporter commented on the irrationality of the attack, ‘’Vivek is a US citizen! Why he would go to India?’’
Many social media users have urged social media platforms to take action against hate speech.
Political commentator Ian Miles Cheong also shared his opinion on the controversy by posting on X, ‘’Nick Fuentes calls Vivek Ramaswamy an Indian foreigner who strives beyond his means who should go back to India.
