Roger Federer is all geared up to defend his Wimbledon tune-up title in Halle on Monday while admitting that he is still surprised by his staggering success on grass-court.
Ahead of his first-round clash against Germany’s Philipp Kohlschreiber, the 17-time Grand Slam champion said that he wants to have the perfect preparation for Wimbledon, Sport24 reported.
Swiss maestro Federer insisted that he wants to defend the title in a tough field of competitors, warning second seed Kei Nishikori and third seed Tomas Berdych ahead of the tournament.
Federer will be aiming for a record eighth title at the All England Club and overhaul William Renshaw and Pete Sampras.
The Swiss also said that he never thought he could ever play so well in his career on grass.
