The winner of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy will receive a prize of US$2.24 million (approximately Rs 19.4 crore) from a total prize pool of $6.9 million. This marks a 53% increase compared to the 2017 edition, as announced by the ICC on Friday.

The runners-up will be awarded $1.12 million (Rs 9.72 crore), while the losing semi-finalists will each earn $560,000 (Rs 4.86 crore). Every match is crucial in the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy, with each group stage win netting the winning team more than $34,000. Teams finishing fifth or sixth will receive $350,000, while the seventh and eighth-placed teams will earn $140,000.

Additionally, all eight participating teams are guaranteed $125,000 each for competing in the 2025 ICC Men’s Champions Trophy. If a team wins the tournament and clinches all its group-stage matches, it could potentially earn up to Rs 22 crore—comprising the winner’s prize, the participation guarantee, and the rewards for winning every match.

However, this total still falls short of the IPL salaries of Indian cricketers such as Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, and Venkatesh Iyer. Iyer, who led Kolkata Knight Riders to their third IPL title last year, was bought by Punjab Kings for Rs 26.75 crore. Pant set an IPL auction record, being acquired by Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 27 crore. Meanwhile, Venkatesh Iyer was bought back by KKR for Rs 23.75 crore.

The 2025 ICC Men’s Champions Trophy, set to be the first global cricket tournament hosted in Pakistan since 1996, promises an exciting two-week competition. Matches will be held across Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi. This year’s tournament will feature eight teams divided into two groups of four, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semi-finals. The ICC Men’s Champions Trophy will be held every four years, with the Women’s Champions Trophy launching in 2027 in a T20 format.

ICC Chair Jay Shah said, “The ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 represents a pivotal moment for cricket, reviving a tournament that highlights the pinnacle of ODI talent, where every match is critical. The substantial prize pot underscores the ICC’s ongoing commitment to investing in the sport and maintaining the global prestige of our events. Beyond the financial incentive, this tournament ignites fierce competition, captivates fans worldwide, and plays a vital role in fostering the growth and long-term sustainability of cricket for future generations.”
