Undoubtedly, the year 2017 has been a jinxed year for Bollywood where films that were hyped up massively failed to show any spark at the box office. But there were films which surpassed expectations and made moolah that nobody expected them too. Judwaa 2, Golmaal again Fukrey 2 are some of the films which made for a massive BO collection surprise, leaving everybody in awe. So, from Richa Chadda, Vidya Balan to Zareen Khan, see what kind of earnings they powered up for their respective films.
Fukrey Returns was a sequel to the 2013 film which starred Pulkit Samrat, Richa Chadha, Manjot Singh, Varun Sharma and Ali Zafar. The film has so far garnered Rs 72.21 cr and has surpassed the collection of films like Secret Superstar, Hindi Medium etc. The first installment ended with Bholi Punjaban (Richa Chadha) behind the bars. The sequel shows Choocha’s dreaming continuing, only this time in a 'Deja-choo' (deja vu) avatar. The film is no more about a lottery, its even bigger since its about a hidden treasure and a mysterious den. -
Nothing is going right for comedian Kapil Sharma. In fact, ever since his fight with his then The Kapil Sharma Show co-star in an aeroplane, things have been going downhill. It is nothing short of a big surprise that his movie Firangi could barely manage to cross the Rs 10 crore mark, indicating the movie failed to make the viewers laugh. The movie was released without any hype on 24th November 2017 and was unable to generate any buzz throughout its release. Strangely, Kapil Sharma just failed go down well with the audience.
Though Aksar 2 started off decently, the audience disliked the movie to an extent that the film couldn't even touch the Rs 10 cr mark. The star cast of the film includes Gautam Rode, Abhinav Shukla, Zareen Khan and Mohit Madaan. Apart from television actor Gautam Rode, cricketer S Sreesanth, who made his Bollywood debut with this film. -
Vidya Balan starrer Tumhari Sulu, managed to perform well at the Box Office. With flop movies on the trail, Tumhari Sulu looked prominent without really ouperforming. As of now, the movie has collected an amount of Rs 34.54 crore. Being a low budget movie, this is a good enough amount. The movie released on 17th November 2017.
Golmaal Again can be deemed as 2017's most successful film so far. The film saw the comeback of actor-director duo, Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty, only to deliver a blockbuster which earned Rs 205.65 cr. The horror comedy had the audience thronging the theatres in huge numbers and that has cemented this franchise's future and that is great news for the actors and the industry as a whole.
