Standout television comedian Kapil Sharma’s second big silver screen venture, Firangi, according to reports has garnered Rs 7.50 crore at the end of the opening weekend. The film, released on December 1 is set in the pre-Independence era and it has not turned into a mover and shaker that it was expected to do. In fact, with its disappointing performance Kapil Sharma has failed to attract the audience and this is a surprise. After all Kapil Sharma's first film Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon had been a qualified success and his econd one was expected to be much better, not worse. The film had a gloomy opening with only 5-10 per cent occupancy rate during the morning shows on day 1 and it failed to look promising enough for the audience as it received no word of mouth boost. The 2 hour 40-minute film proved to be an agonising watch and audience and experts alike dismissed the film as a drag with long-drawn sequences without much humour or comic relief.
Though Sunny Leone movies are not standout ones, they do manage to justify their expenses. Tera Intezaar may have its task cut out to prove that it will manage to do well and force critics to shut up. The movie that released last Friday failed to live up to the expectations and has earned Rs 1.50 cr so far. The film starring Arbaaz Khan opposite Sunny Leone saw empty halls in most of the cinema halls across the country on the day of its release. The kind of opening the film saw it seems the film may have to struggle to stay at the cinema halls for long. The bold and erotic thriller Julie 2 has failed to lure audiences to the movie theatres either. Since, the release of the movie trailer, actress Raai Laxmi had set temperatures soaring, perhaps raising the expectations of the audience. But alas! So far, it has not attained any groundbreaking figures. The movie saw Raai Laxmi, a popular South Indian actress, in lead role. Laxmi can be seen sporting a sultry and bold avatar. For Raai, Julie 2 marks her Bollywood debut. Written, co-produced and directed by Deepak Shivdasani and produced by Vijay Nair, the movie is a sequel to 2004 film, Julie. As per Boxofficeindia.com reports, on its first day, the movie collected an amount of Rs 50 lakh and has failed to add much thereafter either. Though Aksar 2 had started off well at the box office, the film could earn only Rs 2.44 cr so far. The film, a sequel to 2006 film Aksar, has been directed by Ananth Narayan Mahadevan. The star cast of the film includes Gautam Rode, Abhinav Shukla, Zareen Khan and Mohit Madaan. Apart from television actor Gautam Rode, cricketer S Sreesanth also started a new innings in Bollywood with this film. -
Tumhari Sulu has earned Rs 32.49 cr so far and continues to do fair business. In the movie, Vidya Balan has played the role of a woman who is a mother, a homemaker by day and RJ by night. The film has been receiving positive reviews and reactions ever since its release.
