Gujarat poll 2017, HP election: The voting phases for both Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat now over and both Narendra Modi and Rahul Gandhi are anxiously waiting for the final results of the polls. The state of Himachal Pradesh had voted on 9 November 2017 for 68 seat assembly. The Congress campaign was led by incumbent chief minister Virbhadra Singh, while the BJP march was anchored by former CM Prem Kumar Dhumal. However, it is Gujarat which had turned into an electoral combat zone for both BJP and Congress. It is a ‘battle of prestige’ between PM Narendra Modi and Rahul Gandhi. On one hand, where, PM Modi wants to cement his dominance in the state virtually for over a quarter of a century, on the other hand, Rahul Gandhi is looking to prove his mettle. However, as per exit polls, BJP will sweep both the states. Notably, Facebook came out with data on the social engagement during the elections from October 12 to December 12. 1) As per Faebook’s survey, the most discussed candidates of Gujarat Assembly elections were current state CM Vijay Rupani (74%), Jignesh Mevani (23%) and Alpesh Thakor (4%).

2) During Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections the most discussed candidates were incumbent CM Virbhadra Singh (31%), Prem Kumar Dhumal (26%) and Sukh Ram (4%).

3) Most discussed issues during the elections in Gujarat was Economy. Around 40 percent of people talked on the topic. Other topics which were discussed were Law and Order (20%), Defence (13%), Education (11%) and Health (6%).

4) Meanwhile, in Himachal Pradesh Economy was discussed by 38% people. Law and Order took the second spot with 21%. The other topics were Defence (11%), Education (10%) and Health (8%).
