Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party on 28th July 2017 welcomed the Supreme Court's unanimous decision to disqualify Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. Along with Nawaz Sharif, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar too was disqualified by the court in Panama Papers Case. The opposition party dubbed it as a historic day. Tehreek-e- Insaf party's chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi in a press conference called out against terrorism and said, "let’s strengthen Pakistan, let’s get rid of terrorism from the country". "Of money laundering, tax evasion, assets concealment plus crimes of forgery and perjury. Sharifs stand totally exposed before nation today" Imran Khan said in a tweet after the judgement. Soon after the judgement was passed by the Supreme Court, opponents of Nawaz Sharif carried out rallies and hailed SC's decision.

The Panama Papers case against Nawaz Sharif, 67 is related to money laundering by the PM in 1990s. The Supreme Court had set up a six-member joint investigation team (JIT) to carry out investigation the charges against Sharif and his family in May this year. (Reuters)
