Tamil Nadu Muslim organisation's fatwa against Patanjali products: A Tamil Nadu based Muslim organisation has issued a 'fatwa' against Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev's Patanjali products made by using cow urine, saying their use was considered 'haram' (forbidden) in Islam. Tamil Nadu Thowheed Jamat (TNTJ) said cow's urine was being used as a 'key ingredient' in cosmetics, medicines and food products of Patanjali that are available in open markets as well as online. "According to the beliefs of Muslims, cow's urine is haram which should not be used. Therefore, TNTJ issues a fatwa that products of Patanjali are haram," TNTJ said in a release. 3. Air India announces two special plans for New Year: Air India on Tuesday announced two special schemes for passengers which would enable them to ring in 2016 in style. The promotional offers are New Year Special and Lucky First. Under the New Year Special offer, passengers will get an all-inclusive one-way fare of Rs 5,016 for travel between the metros on flights departing between 8 pm on December 31, and 8 am on January 1, the national carrier said in a statement. Under the second scheme, valid for travel between January 1 and 15, passengers travelling in Economy or Business class on its Boeing 777 flights on Delhi-Mumbai-Delhi sector will stand a chance to win an upgrade to First Class. A lucky draw will be held at the boarding gate before take off, it added.

Myntra eyes 10 fold rise in daily GMV during EORS on Jan 2-3: Myntra, an e-commerce platform for fashion and lifestyle products, on Tuesday said it expects its daily GMV (gross merchandise value) to go up by 10 times during the "End of Reason Sale" (EORS) to be held on Jan 2-3. EORS will have a huge collection of specially curated styles and designs across the best of brands at discounts of up to 80 per cent, Myntra said in a statement. Over 2,000 brands, including top Indian and international ones such as Nike, Adidas, Reebok, FILA, Vans, Tommy Hilfiger, Mango, Marks & Spencer, Casio and Titan are participating in the sale, it added. EORS is expected to add a million new shoppers to Myntra's customer base.

5. SpiceJet to raise funds worth up to Rs 5,000 cr: Low-cost air carrier SpiceJet on Tuesday said its shareholders have approved a proposal to raise funds worth up to Rs 5,000 crore. The shareholders, at the company's 31st Annual General Meeting held here yesterday, also approved the appointment of promoter Ajay Singh and his wife Shivani Singh as directors, the company said in a regulatory filing. Besides, the shareholders have also given their nod to the appointment of R Sasiprabhu as an Independent Director of the Company, it said. Singh, earlier a co-founder of SpiceJet in 2005, took back its control after acquiring the entire 58.46 per cent stake of Kalanithi Maran and Kal Airways Pvt Ltd in February this year. His holding in the company currently stands at 60.32 per cent. Singh had said yesterday that the airline was looking to place order for new planes this fiscal. (Image Source: Reuters)

Mumbai Police Twitter handle gets over 9500 followers in 24hrs: The official handle of Mumbai Police on the popular micro blogging site Twitter has received an overwhelming response from citizens, with over 9,500 followers in just 24 hours of its launch. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Mumbai Police Commissioner Ahmed Javed yesterday launched two Twitter handles – @MumbaiPolice and @CPMumbaiPolice. The @MumbaiPolice handle by 4 PM on Tuesday had 9,840 followers on its handle, way ahead of the Delhi Police, active on Twitter since September 2013, which stands at just 3,559. Bengaluru Police, which joined twitter in August 2012, has 1.32 lakh followers

7. HDFC Bank cuts lending rate by 0.05 per cent: Following SBI, country's second largest private sector lender HDFC Bank has reduced base rate or the minimum lending rate by 0.05 per cent to 9.30 per cent. The reduction in base rate will bring down interest rate on all loans. "Based on the quarterly review, the bank decided to lower the base rate" said HDFC Bank Treasurer Ashish Parthasarthy. The revised rate, one of the lowest in the industry, became effective yesterday. HDFC Bank had last reduced its base rate to 9.35 per cent in September this year. (Image Source: Reuters)

Bharti Airtel launches Wynk Games: After the success of music and movie streaming businesses, Bharti Airtel on Tuesday announced the beta launch of 'Wynk Games' with a library of over 2,000 global and local games. The gaming app is the latest OTT addition to Airtel's content portfolio which will be free for its internet subscribers and paid for customers of other network. "We see people are required to download games even without knowing the content. Then they are required to unlock stages by paying. We have done away with it. Meru Cabs' ride share feature gets rolling in Delhi-NCR: Radio taxi operator Meru Cabs on Tuesday launched a ride-sharing feature in the capital and NCRunder which the customers will be provided with an option of sharing their cab with another co-passenger who intends to travel in the same direction.
