Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu has something on offer for you whether you are a reserved or an unreserved passenger.

For reserved passengers, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu announced the introduction of train services – Humsafar, Tejas and UDAY. Humsafar would be fully air-conditioned third AC service with an optional service for meals.

Tejas, on the other hand, will be a high-speed train operating at speed of 130 kmph and above. It will offer on-board services such as entertainment, local cuisine and wi-fi. The services would be provided through a single-service provider for ensuring accountability and improved customer satisfaction.

Rail Minister Suresh Prabhu also announced an overnight double-decker Utkrisht air-conditioned Yatri (UDAY) Express on busy routes, which has the potential to increase carrying capacity by almost 40 per cent compared to present trains.

For unreserved passengers, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu offered Antyodaya Express, a long-distance superfast train service, to be deployed on dense routes.

The railway minister also announced the addition of 2-4 Deen Dayalu coaches in some long distance trains for unreserved passengers to enhance carrying capacity. These coaches will also have facility for potable drinking water and a higher number of mobile charging points.
