Petrol, Diesel Price Today 1 October 2024: Oil prices spiked because of ongoing tensions in the West Asia, which can hamper the supply of Iranian crude. Brent crude futures declined by 17 cents for November at $71.81 per barrel while West Texas Intermediate futures were up by 30 cents to $68.48.
Meanwhile, as crude oil prices dropped, oil marketing companies (OMC) are making gaining significantly from the sale of petrol and diesel. According to an ICRA report, firms like Bharat Petroleum, Hindustan Petroleum and Indian Oil are generating a profit of an estimated Rs 15 a litre on petrol and Rs 12 per litre on diesel. As the oil retailers are gaining such massive profits, they can also reduce the prices of petrol and diesel for the consumers. Earlier, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas also stated that the state-owned oil, companies (OMCs) had a very good financial year 2023-24 in terms of profit.
