Chinese tech major, Huawei which has earlier informed that it had no intentions to unveil any Android Wear smartwatch, is now likely to launch its own follow-up watch. According to some reports and rumours, Huawei will ditch Google’s Android, and as of now, will go for Samsung’s own operations system called Tizen. Google might lose yet another OEM partner in this area, according to a South Koren newspaper. There have been claims of complaints by the company accusing Google of not being collaborative enough. Google apparently was unwilling to offer Huawei everything that was demanded of it. Samsung instead claimed to have cooperated with Huawei and said that their Tizen operating system was completely well suited for Huawei’s smartwatches. Samsung, however, has denied any official collaboration and on the new smartwatch, saying that there has been no official request from Huawei.
Though the idea of Huawei tieing up with Samsung’s Tizen OS is not a bad thing, yet it giving up on Android might have much implications on its sales. This also might be a window of opportunity for Google to unveil its plans for manufacturing its own Android wearables. To make it clear, Tizen is not owned by Samsung, in fact, Huawei is one of the first members of the Tizen group. The group also includes LG and Panasonic among others. Yet, it is notable that Samsung remains a champion for Tizen among the rest, as it has introduced the OS in a range of products like smartphones, smartwatches, TVs and others. Samsung has also received positive results because of the incorporations. The only place where Tizen lacks from Android is the applications. Google has made it very easy for Android developers of make apps for both smartphones as well as for watches, in the same OS.
