Xiaomi has launched a new charger that supports Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 along with the standard Indian adapter. The new Xiaomi Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 charger comes with 9V 2A output configuration, which is comparatively higher than the regular Xiaomi charger available in India. Xiaomi’s India Standard Adapter featuring Quick Charge will be sold on Mi.com website at a price of Rs. 449. Xiaomi says that this price includes a 25 percent discount, which means the price of the charger may increase in the future.

The Xiaomi’s new charger supports up to 380V voltage capacity to handle the frequent electricity surge in India, claims the company. There is an automatic temperature control feature given in the adapter that can keep the temperature below 30-degrees to prevent overheating. As we mentioned, the new Xiaomi charger supports Quick Charge 3.0 that is responsible for fast charging on a select range of Xiaomi smartphones.

The Xiaomi smartphones that currently support Quick Charge 3.0 are Xiaomi Mi 5, Xiaomi Mi 5s, Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus, Xiaomi Mi 6, Xiaomi Mi Max, Xiaomi Mi Max 2, Xiaomi Mi Note 2, and Xiaomi MIX 2, according to Qualcomm’s website. However, only three out of the above smartphones are available in India – Mi 5, Mi Max 2, and Mi MIX 2. Also, Xiaomi’s Android One smartphone – Mi A1 – has also received the support for fast charging as a part of the Android 8.0 Oreo update, which makes it a member of Xiaomi’s fast-charging smartphone family.

While the Xiaomi Quick Charge 3.0 adapter is listed on Mi.com, it was ‘out of stock’ at the time of writing. Xiaomi’s new charger is available in Black colour without the USB cable. However, as Qualcomm’s Quick Charge technology is independent of connectors, users will be able to use any working USB cable, including Type-C, with this adapter.
