The Pixel is notorious for getting leaked…like, a lot. Google just can’t keep the lid on it tight enough and the same is happening with its upcoming Pixel 8a as well. For those unaware, Google attaches the alphabet “a” to its relatively affordable Pixel devices. They usually tend to be a watered-down version of an existing product. The Pixel 8a for instance is expected to be a Pixel 8 “lite” of sorts with most likely the same processor and aesthetic choices.

Pixel 8a colours leaked
According to a report on Android Headlines, the Pixel 8a will apparently come in a choice of four colours. These are Obsidian, Porcelain, Bay, and Mint. The report adds that the phone will have a matte finish on the back. The design scheme will be similar to the Pixel 8, to no one’s surprise. Just because Google will launch it in as many colours, doesn’t mean it will bring all of them to every market. So, we’ll just have to wait and watch what’s planned for India where Google has historically offered fewer choices. The coral Pixel 7a was never launched in India.
The Pixel 8a design was leaked even before the official launch of the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro last year. As we fast approach D-day, which in all probability should be at Google I/O 2024 on May 14, there’s enough evidence, those rumours will turn out to be right.
Pixel 8a purported specs
The Pixel 8a will reportedly come with a 6.1-inch 1080p display with a 90Hz refresh rate, not very different from the Pixel 7a. It is expected to be powered by the same Google Tensor G3 processor as the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. The battery is tipped to be a bit bigger compared to the Pixel 7a’s at 4,500 mAh. The camera setup is likely to be a do-over from the Pixel 7a with a 64-megapixel primary and 13-megapixel ultra wide.
Pixel 8a price expectations
Now, just because the Pixel 8a will be an affordable Pixel (in Google’s parlance anyway), it doesn’t mean that it will come cheap. The Pixel 8a with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage was launched at a hefty Rs 43,999, so we’ll just have to wait and see, how things pan out for the Pixel 8a. Stay tuned for more updates.
