Android 14 was announced at I/O 2023 back in May. The OS has been in beta for several months, and is now expected to come with new Pixel phones. Here’s a look at some of the new features and changes you can expect to see in Android 14:

Larger font size: Android 14 is said to be called as Upside Down Cake. With new OS, Android users will enjoy a topped-up font size of upto 200% compared to 130% on Android 13. Google informed that it will allow for a non-linear font scaling which basically means that larger fonts won’t grow at the same rate as smaller fonts.

Notification flash: Android 14 will let you know you’ve received notification using camera flash and display to light up.

Language improvements: Android 14 introduces the Grammatical Inflection API, which lets user add support for grammatical gender without refactoring the app.

Improved performance and battery life: Android 14 is also designed to improve the performance and battery life of your device. For example, it is tweaking two Android APIs hoping to improve efficiency for tasks like background activities or downloading large files.

The Android 14 also brings the “requestUserPreapproval()” function that enables installers to seek user consent before finalising the installation session. This allows app stores to delay the downloading of any APKs until the user has given their approval for the installation to proceed.
