iQOO 12 has become the world’s first smartphone to launch with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor in global markets. Soon after its China unveiling, the iQOO 12 has made its way to three international markets including Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia. The phone is set to arrive officially in India on December 12 with a high probability to be the country’s first 8 Gen 3-powered smartphone beating OnePlus, Samsung and others to the punch.

iQOO 12 global launch, prices

iQOO has launched the iQOO 12 in Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia in sole 16GB/512GB trims. The phone costs 27,900 THB (roughly Rs 66,000) in Thailand, RM 3,999 (roughly Rs 71,500) in Malaysia, while in Indonesia the iQOO 12 is priced at IDR 10,999,000 (roughly Rs 59,000).

iQOO 12 India launch, prices (expected)

iQOO 12 India launch is set for December 12. According to a recent Amazon “leak”, the iQOO 12 is tipped to be priced at Rs 52,999 for 12GB/256GB and Rs 57,999 for 16GB/512GB. If true, the iQOO 12 would be priced more aggressively than its predecessor, the iQOO 11. Demand seems largely “positive” as iQOO claims its early-bird priority passes that allow customers to get first dibs at the handset, sold out in about 9 hours.

iQOO 12 specs, features

The iQOO 12 has a 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED display with fast 144Hz refresh rate and 1.5K (2800x1260p) resolution with 2160Hz PWM dimming support. The panel can top 1400nits in sunny outdoors, iQOO says.

Under the hood, you get the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 with up to 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 1TB of UFS4.0 storage. Running the show is Vivo’s Origin OS 4.0 based on Android 14. Global variants are expected to come with Funtouch OS 14 and in India, iQOO will do away with the “hot apps, hot games” spam folders reducing bloatware on shipping devices.

Powering the iQOO 12 is a 5,000mAh battery with 120W fast wired charging.

Coming to cameras, the iQOO 12 has a trio of 50-megapixel, 50-megapixel, and 64-megapixel sensors behind a 23mm wide (with optical image stabilisation), 150-dgree ultrawide, and 70mm periscope-style telephoto (for 3x optical and up to 100x digital zoom). On the front, it has a 16-megapixel selfie camera.
