Tata Punch is the latest product in the Indian manufacturer’s portfolio. It is the smallest SUV from Tata Motors and sits below the Nexon. The designers have done a great job of making the car look proportionate, despite its smaller size. Powering the Punch is a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated, three-cylinder engine that makes 84.8hp and 113Nm of peak torque. There is no option to get a diesel or a turbo-petrol as of now. This engine can be paired with either a 5-speed manual or an AMT. Punch is also the most affordable SUV that has scored 5-stars in the Global NCAP testing. Tata has launched the Punch at an introductory starting price of Rs 5.49 lakh (ex-showroom). It is available in four trims – Pure, Adventure, Accomplished and Creative. Furthermore, the company is also providing customers with the option to add more features to the vehicle through special packs.

  • Tata Punch Exterior

    Tata Punch

Tata Punch is the smallest SUV in the company’s portfolio. Despite most other competitors in the segment failing to look pleasing to the eye, the Punch looks proportionate and smart. At the front, one can see the split headlamps design and glossy black grill that are reminiscent of the Harrier. It gets large 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels housed in square wheel arches. The flat roof can be had in a contrasting white colour and comes with roof rails as well. At the back is a sculpted boot with a thick cladding and LED tail lamps.

  • Tata Punch Interior

    Tata Punch

The Punch is a roomy vehicle and provides enough space in both rows. The floor in the second row is flat and allows for three people to sit comfortably but the car itself is not wide enough to accommodate three people at the back. The boot space is also big enough to pack in a few bags but the reduced width has resulted in the wheel arches intruding into the boot area. Apart from this, it comes with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, rear-seat armrest and cooled glove box. There are plenty of storage spaces for storing your belongings as well.

  • Tata Punch Engine

    Tata Punch

Tata is offering the Punch with only a petrol option as of now. The 1.2-litre Revotron engine is the same unit that is also found in the Altroz. It produces similar power and torque of 84.8hp and 114Nm, respectively. This makes the car a good performer for general usage and it can also maintain highway speeds without any fuss. It is also a smooth unit but do not expect it to be eager enough to make quick overtakes at higher speeds.

  • Tata Punch Transmission

    Tata Punch

While you can only get the Punch with only one engine option, Tata is providing two transmission options. Customers can either opt for a 5-speed manual unit or a 5-speed AMT. The inclusion of an AMT makes the this vehicle a great option for people who have to navigate through heavy traffic during their daily commute.

  • Tata Punch Braking and Safety

Tata Punch comes with disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the back. It gets safety features such as ABS, EBD, dual airbags, reverse parking sensors and ISOFIX mounts as standard. Like many other Tata vehicles, Punch has also scored 5-stars in the Global NCAP crash testing. Higher trims of the car get features like reverse parking sensors, projector headlamps, rain-sensing wipers and more.

  • Tata Punch Mileage

The ARAI certified fuel efficiency figures of the Tata Punch are 18.97kmpl for the MT models and 18.82kmpl for AMT models. This is a decent figure for a petrol vehicle of this size and it also shows that there is not a huge difference between the mileage figures of manual and automatic versions of the SUV.
