Veteran actor Pankaj Dheer, best known for playing Karn in BR Chopra‘s mythological TV show Mahabharat, passed away at the age of 68 on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, following prolonged health issues, reported PTI. Actor Firoz Khan, who played Arjun in the show, took to social media to share the news.

CINTAA (Cine & TV Artistes Association) released an official statement informing about the demise of the actor.

“With profound grief and deep sorrow, we inform you of the passing away of our Trust’s erstwhile Chairman and CINTAA’s former Hon. General Secretary, Shri Pankaj Dheer ji, on 15th October 2025. The cremation will be held today at 4:30 p.m Next to Pawan Hans, Vile Parle(W) Mumbai.

Dheer was seen in numerous TV and Bollywood projects including another BR Chopra show Adalat, Yug, Badho Bahu, and movies like Sadak, Soldier and Baadshah. His another memorable role was as Shiv Dutt in Doordarshan show Chandrakanta, directed by Nirja Guleri.

Long cancer battle

Pankaj Dheer was reportedly diagnosed with cancer and battled it bravely. However, it relapsed a few months back and he had to undergo a major surgery for it.

Social media pays tribute to Mahabharat’s Karna

After the news broke, tributes have been pouring in for the actor on social media:
