Two days after the Election Commission of India announced the schedule for the Lok Sabha elections 2019, West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee today announced the list of candidates for the general elections.
Banerjee, who is at the forefront of the offensive against the Modi-led NDA government, said on Tuesday that TMC will field 41 per cent female candidates in the elections and termed this decision as a proud moment. She added that the TMC will also contest seats in Odisha, Assam, Jharkhand, Bihar and Andaman.
According to news agency PTI, Banerjee said that six sitting members of Parliament will not contest the polls and they will work for the organisation.
Moon Moon Sen will contest from Asansol, Satabdi Roy from Birbhum.

Moreover, the CPM is likely to declare its list for Lok Sabha polls tomorrow and going by the TMC list, CPM is likely to field strong candidates from Jhargram, Jadavpur and Raiganj.
Lok Sabha elections in West Bengal will begin on April 11 and polling would be held over seven phases through May 19, the Election Commission announced on Sunday adding that counting will be done on May 23. TMC, BJP, CPI(M)-led Left Front and the Congress will vie for 42 Lok Sabha seats in the state.
