Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) unveiled its Lok Sabha poll manifesto on Wednesday, outlining a series of social welfare initiatives and pledging to repeal the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) if the opposition INDIA bloc assumes power at the Centre.
In a post on X, the party wrote, “We are delighted to present our Manifesto for the Lok Sabha Elections, 2024!
With #DidirShopoth, we pledge to uplift every Indian with guaranteed employment, universal housing, free LPG cylinders, assured MSP for farmers, scholarships for SC, ST, OBC students and much more.”
Speaking at the manifesto launch in Kolkata, TMC’s Rajya Sabha leader Derek O’Brien emphasized their commitment to fulfilling these promises once the INDIA bloc secures governance.
Senior TMC leader Amit Mitra highlighted key assurances, including price stabilization for petrol and diesel, scrapping the CAA, and halting the National Register of Citizens (NRC) process.
Additionally, the party vowed to facilitate doorstep ration delivery and provide 10 free cooking cylinders for BPL families.
The TMC walked out of the INDIA bloc in January over disagreements regarding seat-sharing with the Congress in Bengal. However, the Mamata Banerjee-led party had said it continues to be part of the INDIA bloc at the national level.
