AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi expressed confidence that of a victory for the K Chandrasekhar Rao-led Bharat Rashtra Samiti, stating that the people are likely to elect KCR as Chief Minister for the third time in the upcoming Telangana Assembly elections in 2023.

“People trust that he (CM KCR) has worked for farmers in 9 years. He started the insurance initiative for farmers which was copied by PM Modi. So, it is a major trust factor…I think the public will elect KCR as the CM for the third time.” Owaisi said.

He also highlighted several initiatives and reforms introduced by the Chandrashekar Rao-led government over the past nine years. Some of these initiatives include the Rythu Bandhu Scheme, Rythu Bima Scheme, Raithu Samanvaya Samithi, Telangana State Seed and Organic Certification Authority (TSSOCA), Mission Kakatiya, and other schemes aimed at improving the livelihoods of farmers, enhancing agricultural productivity, and overall agricultural sector development in the state.

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) is aiming for a third consecutive win in the upcoming assembly elections, and the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) is also expected to be a strong contender, particularly in Hyderabad.

hile both parties have not announced an official alliance, Owaisi has called upon Muslims in the state to sail with the BRS on seats where the AIMIM is not in the fray.

Earlier this month, the Hyderabad MP asked his party workers and supporters to spread his appeal to Muslims, asking them to back BRS in constituencies where his party is not contesting, through audio and video clips. Owaisi can be heard asking voters to stand resolutely with AIMIM and ‘Maamu’, a term alluded to CM KCR, and warned people not to get swayed by the claims of Opposition parties, especially the Congress.

The Telangana Legislative Assembly elections for 2023 are scheduled to be held from November 3, 2023, to December 5, 2023, to elect all 119 members of the state’s Legislative Assembly. Polling is set for November 30, 2023, with the counting of votes scheduled for December 3, 2023.

In the 2018 Telangana Assembly elections, the BRS (then Telangana Rashtra Samiti or TRS) emerged as the single largest party and formed the government in the state, with KCR serving another term as Chief Minister. The TRS secured 88 seats in the 2018 polls and its strength increased to 101 in due course with several other party MLAs joining the ruling party.
