TDP’s Narsipatnam MLA C Ayyannapatrudu was unanimously elected as the Speaker of the 16th Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly on Saturday without any opposition nominations.

On Friday, only three nominations were submitted for the Speaker’s position, all in favour of Ayyannapatrudu, PPK Ramacharyulu, secretary general of the Legislative Assembly said.

The second day of the inaugural session of the 16th Legislative Assembly commenced at 10:30 AM today. Three MLAs who had not taken their oath on Friday completed their formalities today, ensuring all 175 MLAs of the southern state have now been sworn in.

Meanwhile, YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is unlikely to attend the Assembly session due to his scheduled visit to Kadapa district later in the day.

As per a statement from the opposition party, the former CM plans to spend the next three days in Pulivendula.
