Ahead of the special session of Parliament that got underway on Monday at 11 am, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the media and referred to the special session as historic and one that would witness “historic decisions.”

The current session is being held in the old parliament building, and MPs are set to move to the new parliament building on September 19, just before the second day of the special session.

Prime Minister Modi described the session as short but significant. He said, “At this time, we all feel an atmosphere of enthusiasm and newfound confidence across the country. This session, though brief, holds great importance. It’s a session of historic decisions. What makes it special is that it marks the beginning of a new journey after 75 years.”

He further emphasized, “As we embark on this new path, our goal is to transform the country into a developed nation by 2047. All these decisions will be made in the new parliament building.”

The Prime Minister encouraged all members to view this session as a fresh start, urging them to contribute effectively, set aside past issues, and bring forth innovative ideas. He stated, “I urge all respected MPs to make the most of this short session. Spend your time here with zeal and enthusiasm. There will be plenty of time for grievances later.”

He added, “There are moments in life that fill you with enthusiasm and faith. I look at this short session in that light.”

Addressing Ganesh Chaturthi ahead of the festival, he said, “Tomorrow, on Ganesh Chaturthi, we will move to the new parliament building. Lord Ganesh, also known as ‘Vighnaharta,’ signifies the removal of obstacles. Now, there will be no hindrances to the country’s development. This session of parliament may be brief, but it holds historic significance.”

The Prime Minister also praised the success of the Chandrayaan 3 mission, stating that the ‘Shiv Shakti’ point had become a new source of inspiration. He said, “Chandrayaan-3 has proudly planted our Tricolor on the moon. The ‘Shiv Shakti’ point is now a symbol of inspiration, and the ‘Tiranga’ is filling us with pride. Such achievements are globally recognized as a testament to our modernity, science, and technology. When this capability is showcased to the world, it opens doors to numerous opportunities and possibilities for India.”

The PM also acknowledged the successful completion of the G-20 summit, headed by India, stating, “India will always take pride in becoming the voice of the Global South during the G-20 summit, and the inclusion of the African Union as a permanent member of the G-20 is a clear signal of India’s bright future.”

The Prime Minister also mentioned the dedication of the ‘YashBhoomi’ international convention centre to the country on the previous day.
