Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani has reportedly received three death threats in three days from the same email. According to news agency ANI, the sender has demanded Rs 400 crore from Ambani now due to non-response to the previous emails. A case has been registered against an unknown person at Mumbai’s Gamdevi police station, the tweet said.

The Reliance chairperson has neither responded to the previous ransom mails nor released any official statement on the issue. The security at Ambani’s residence has been increased by the Mumbai Police. Latest media reports say the cyber police is trying to trace the sender.

The third threat was received by the same sender who had sent the previous two threats on October 27 demanding Rs 200 crore. The sender reportedly said that he raised the ransom amount to Rs 400 crore as Ambani did not respond to his previous mails.

The email threatened Ambani stating, “No matter how good your security is, one of our snipers can kill you. This time the amount is 400 crore rupees and police cannot track and arrest me.”

The Mumbai Police increased the security at Ambani’s residence Antilia, looking at the severity of the threat.

Mukesh Ambani received the first email on Friday by the sender who claims his name as one Shadab Khan demanding Rs 100 crore and threatening to kill Ambani. Devendra Munshiram, security in-charge at Antilia filed a police complaint soon after the threat was received.

Ambani received another email the next day mentioning double the previous amount as ransom and when Ambani did not respond to the second mail as well, the amount was increased to 400 crore rupees by the sender.

A senior police officer confirmed that all the mails are from the same sender who seems to be using an email service provider from Belgium. The Mumbai police had written to them to locate the sender through the internet protocol address.

After the first email was received, a case was already registered by the Gamdevi police against an unknown person under sections 387 (putting a person in fear of death or of grievous hurt in order to commit extortion) and 506 (2) (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.
