As polling in Rajasthan is underway, Congress leader Sachin Pilot expressed confidence that the Congress will retain power in the state. “I am confident that the Congress will repeat the government,” Pilot told PTI before casting his vote in Jaipur.
He said the Congress focused its election campaign on the issues of the people and claimed that the BJP has been exposed.

Pilot, who is Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s former deputy, said that the electorate wishes to change the anti-incumbency trend.

Polling in 199 out of the 200 assembly constituencies began at 7 am. Elections in the Karanpur seat of Sriganganagar district have been postponed following the death of the Congress candidate.

A day prior, in a show of unity, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Friday posted a video on social media platforms in which Pilot is seen making an appeal to people to vote for the Congress. The video post assumed significance as the Pilot-Gehlot power tussle has found frequent mention in the campaigning for the Rajasthan assembly polls with Prime Minister Narendra Modi also referring to it.

Gehlot posted the 1.51 minute video of Pilot on his social media platforms X, Facebook and Instagram. In the video, Pilot is seen making an appeal to people to vote for the Congress, saying the feedback, public response and inclination of the voters clearly shows that his party is going to again form the government in the state.

Gehlot and Pilot have been at loggerheads over the post of chief minister ever since the Congress formed government in December 2018, which also made Pilot to resort to rebellion against Gehlot’s leadership in 2020 that led to a political crisis.
