Rajasthan Election 2023: The BJP Central Election Committee will hold a meeting in Jaipur tonight. Union Home Minister Amit Shah and party national president JP Nadda will attend the meeting to make strategies regarding the election and finalising candidates for assembly election, an ANI tweet said.

While state Assembly elections are soon to be held, BJP has decided to meet with the Central Election Committee. The party has decided to map out strategies for the election. They are also to finalise candidates for assembly election.

The state Assembly elections are scheduled to be held in five states of the country – Rajasthan, Mizoram, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Telangana.

The Election Commission of India is yet to release the dates for elections. However, it is anticipated that it shall occur by the end of the year 2023.

Rajasthan Assembly elections schedule is expected to be released in October and in a single phase. Earlier in 2018, the elections were conducted in the month of December and the schedule was released in October. The voting also happened in a single phase back then.

The legislative assembly of Rajasthan consists of 200 seats. In the elections held in 2018, the Congress secured 99 seats and fell short of two seats to hold a majority threshold of 101. Congress formed the government with the support of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD). On the other hand, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ruled second with 73 seats.

Chief Ministerial candidates for the major political parties participating in the Rajasthan Assembly Election still need to be made clear. There is a speculation that the current Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot is to be named again for CM candidate.

On the other hand, the BJP is yet to announce its chief ministerial candidate. It was speculated that Vasundhara Raje would be considered the frontrunner. After today’s Central Election Committee meeting, it is likely that the BJP will announce its CM candidate for Rajasthan Assembly Elections 2023.
