In a significant operation, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police broke up a terror group that was linked to people operating from Pakistan. They arrested a total of 10 people. Among them were four main members who were directly involved in planning and executing activities and six others who provided support, like arranging resources or helping with logistics, officials reported on Friday.

The module, allegedly led by Harvinder Rinda along with foreign-based associates Happy Passian and Jeevan Fauji, had been planning an attack on a police establishment in Batala, Punjab. It was also involved in a recent attack on a police officer’s residence in the same area, according to the police.

Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav shared details of the breakthrough on X, stating, “Commissionerate Police Amritsar has successfully dismantled a cross-border terror module. The operation led to the arrest of 10 individuals, recovery of a hand grenade, three pistols, and a Chinese drone suspected to have been used for cross-border activities.”

DGP Yadav emphasised the Punjab Police’s commitment to fighting terrorism and organized crime, ensuring public safety, and preserving peace in the region. Investigations are ongoing to uncover additional connections and neutralize further threats.
