In a major boost to the healthcare centre and to improve emergency healthcare, over 600 ambulances – many equipped with 5G technology – have been launched across Delhi-NCR, aiming to reduce emergency response times to under 15 minutes, according to an official. Alongside this, traffic cops are being trained as first responders to help in medical emergencies before ambulances arrive.

This initiative is led by emergency healthcare provider Zenzo in collaboration with the Delhi Traffic Police and also includes 100 traffic personnel who are being trained in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and basic first aid to act as first responders. These ambulances are expected to help in cases like road accidents, heart attacks, and strokes, where every minute counts.

Sweta Mangal, CEO of Zenzo, stated that the initiative is a step toward improving Delhi’s “emergency readiness”, especially in light of the increasing accidents in the capital.

These new ambulances come with high-speed 5G internet connectivity, allowing real-time video calls with doctors from the moving ambulance. This helps doctors guide paramedics and provide treatment advice even before the patient reaches the hospital. The 5G connection also allows faster sharing of patient details and reports with hospitals, saving valuable time during emergencies.
