Mumbai police have launched a massive operation involving six teams to nab Mihir Shah, the 24-year-old son of a Shiv Sena leader, following a fatal hit-and-run incident. The incident occurred in Mumbai’s Worli area on Sunday morning, where Mihir Shah, allegedly driving a BMW, collided with a scooter, tragically killing 45-year-old Kaveri Nakhwa and critically injuring her husband, Pradeep.

An official confirmed that a Look Out Circular (LOC) has been issued against Mihir Shah, whose father, Rajesh Shah, a Shiv Sena leader from Palghar district, was remanded to 14-day judicial custody by a Mumbai court on Monday. Rajesh Shah was later granted bail, while his driver, Rajrishi Bidawat, who was also involved in the incident, remains in police custody.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde asserted that no one, regardless of their status or affiliations, would escape justice under his administration. He expressed deep concern over the increasing incidents of hit-and-run cases involving influential individuals misusing their positions. Shinde emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring stringent penalties for such offenders.

Police suspect that Mihir Shah was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident, citing evidence from a bar in Juhu where he was reportedly seen shortly before the incident. They have recovered a bar bill amounting to Rs 18,000 and are reviewing CCTV footage as part of their investigation.

The accused have been charged under various sections, including culpable homicide not amounting to murder, as per Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Shiv Sena MLA Aaditya Thackeray, representing Worli assembly constituency, urged swift police action without political interference, emphasizing the need for justice for the victims and their families.

The case has sparked public outcry and renewed calls for stricter enforcement of laws against hit-and-run incidents, especially involving influential individuals. The ongoing investigation aims to establish the full circumstances surrounding the tragic event and ensure accountability.
