Several museums in Delhi received bomb threats that later proved to be false, police said on Wednesday. Officials stated that bomb threats were sent via emails to approximately 10-15 museums, including the Railway Museum.

“As soon as the information was received, the Delhi Police promptly dispatched teams to the locations to investigate. The email threats, sent on Tuesday, targeted various museums, including the Rail Museum,” police officials said. Upon investigation, the emails were confirmed to be hoaxes, with no bombs found in any of the museums.

The police have registered a case and are conducting further investigations to identify those responsible for the hoax calls.

Bomb threats in Delhi’s institutions

It’s important to note that several institutions—schools, colleges, hospitals, and airports—in the national capital have recently received hoax bomb threats. In May, two Delhi University colleges and over 100 schools in the Delhi-NCR region were targeted with false bomb threats. Earlier, in April, the High Court requested a detailed status report from the Delhi government on similar incidents in private schools.

On May 17, the Delhi Police submitted a status report to the Delhi High Court concerning the recent hoax bomb threats. The report mentioned the deployment of five bomb disposal squads (BDS) and 18 bomb detection teams (BDTs) across each district, IGI airport, railway stations, and metro stations.

The report also detailed that 1,764 schools are in the Central Range, 1,032 in the Eastern Range, 1,762 in the Eastern Range, and 76 in the New Delhi Range.
