Congress’ Jaivardhan Singh has won by a margin of 4505 votes. He has defeated BJP’s Heerendra Singh Banti.
During the 2023 Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections, the total percentage of voters in Raghogarh Assembly Constituency was recorded at 82.84 percent.
Jaivardhan Singh of the Indian National Congress (INC) won the seat defeating Bhupendra Singh Raghuwanshi of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) by a margin of 46697 votes in the 2018 elections. Raghogarh Assembly constituency comes under the Rajgarh Lok Sabha constituency. The seat was also a political home turf of former Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh, father of Jaivardhan Singh.
According to the Madhya Pradesh Election Commission, the total number of voters in the state is 5,61,36,229, including 75,304 service voters. 2,88,25,607 are male voters, 2,72,33,945 are female voters and the third gender voters are 1373. The constituency comprises a population where 38.8 percent reside in urban areas while the remaining 61.2 percent dwell in rural regions. The general caste population holds around 72,000 people, backward classes constitute around 80,000 people, scheduled caste amounts to approximately 34,000 and scheduled tribes are about over 18,000 in number and others are about 2722. The constituency has a literacy rate of 63.91 percent.
In 2018, Congress emerged as the single-largest party, winning 114 seats. The Congress formed the government with the support of 1 Samajwadi Party MLA, 2 BSP MLAs and 4 independent MLAs. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh had no other option but to resign to make way for Kamal Nath. However, on March 20, 2020, Kamal Nath was forced to resign as 22 sitting MLAs quit the Congress, toppling the government. On March 23, 2020, Shivraj Singh Chouhan returned to power.
