Madhya Pradesh Election Latest News: Bhind and Morena, sensitive areas of Madhya Pradesh, witnessed violence during the polling on Friday. According to news agency ANI, BJP candidate Rakesh Shukla sustained minor injuries during the incident in Manhad village of Mehgaon assembly constituency of Bhind. Reports say that police had to be called in to control the situation. The stone pelting caused damage to Shukla’s car as well. An India Today report said that Shukla’s security personnel fired two shots in the air to disperse the agitators. Stones were pelted outside the polling booth, the agency reports said.
In a separate incident, stone-pelting was reported at two polling booths, 147 and 148, of the Dimani Assembly constituency at Mirghan in the Morena district. The violence erupted after when two groups started throwing stones at each other. However, the situation was brought under control, local officials said.
Congress has alleged that BJP workers have pelted stones at Congress leaders in Jhabua constituency and labeled the region as ‘gunda raj’, said by Congress candidate Vikant Bhuria. Aside from that, BJP members allegedly prevented Congress MP Nakul Nath, son of former CM and party leader Kamal Nath, from visiting a polling station in Bararipura, Chhindwara.
Madhya Pradesh began voting early at 7 am for the 230-member assembly. The official stated that voting will continue till 6 p.m. in all polling stations except those in Naxalite-affected areas of Balaghat, Mandla, and Dindori districts, where it will conclude at 3 p.m. The Police force have been deployed in all 230 constituencies in large numbers to prevent any form of misconduct.
