Mizoram Election Result 2023: The battle for Mizoram nears completion and it is now time for the ultimate truth. The results for the Mizoram Assembly Elections 2023 are set to be announced tomorrow, i.e., on December 4. The counting of votes will begin at 8:00 am. The ECI will officially release the results on their website. The polling in Mizoram was held in a single phase on November 7.
Mizoram recorded a voter turnout of 76.66 per cent in the elections held to the 40 Assembly seats in the state on November 7, Election Commission of India data showed. At 83.96%, Serchhip recorded the maximum turnout among the 11 districts of the state. Capital Aizawl recorded a turnout of 73.09%, the lowest in the state.

The exit poll in Mizoram forecast a potential sweeping victory for the Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM), poised to unseat the Mizo National Front, with both the Congress and the BJP trailing far behind in the third and fourth positions.

According to predictions from the India Today-Axis My India poll, the ZPM is anticipated to secure 28-35 seats, while the MNF may clinch 3-7 seats out of the total 40. The Times Now-ETG projections suggest a closely contested battle, with ZPM expected to win 10-14 seats and MNF securing 14-18 seats. The Jan Ki Baat poll predicts 10-14 seats for MNF and 15-25 seats for ZPM. According to the India TV-CNX poll, MNF is foreseen to win 14-18 seats, while ZPM may secure 12-16 seats.
What happened last time in Mizoram
The incumbent MNF is seeking a consecutive second term in the 2023 assembly polls, having previously governed for three terms since Mizoram attained statehood in 1987. In the 2018 assembly election, the Mizo National Front (MNF) secured 26 seats, with the Congress managing five seats, the BJP winning one seat, and the ZPM clinching eight seats. In the current electoral scenario, Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga has expressed confidence that his party will reclaim power, aiming to secure 25-35 seats in the upcoming polls.
In 2008, Congress had defeated the MNF, which had been in power since 1998, by winning 32 seats. Five years later, Congress won 34 seats while the MNF managed to bag just 5.
