Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday said that the party will announce candidates for all its 13 Lok Sabha seats in Punjab and one in Chandigarh in the next 10-15 days.
The Lok Sabha elections in the country are scheduled to be held in April-May this year.
Kejriwal made the announcement while addressing a gathering in Ludhiana’s Khanna, organised for the “doorstep delivery” of ration under the National Food Security Act of the Punjab government.
“Two years back, you gave your blessings. Out of 117 seats, you gave us 92 seats. You created history in Punjab. Today I again seek your blessing with folded hands. There will be Lok Sabha elections after two months. In Punjab there are 13 (Lok Sabha) seats, one is Chandigarh and there will be 14 seats. In the coming 10-15 days, the AAP will announce its candidates on all these 14 seats. I request you the way you blessed us two years back, get the party to win all these 14 seats,” said the Delhi CM.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that the AAP is confident that it will win all the seats in both Punjab and Chandigarh.
Meanwhile, Kejriwal has declared that the AAP will contest on all 90 seats in Haryana on its own, but will fight as an ally of INDIA in the Lok Sabha polls.
Earlier, in a massive jolt to the INDIA bloc ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, Mann on Wednesday said that the AAP will not form an alliance with the Congress in Punjab.
Of the 13 Lok Sabha seats in Punjab, AAP just has one MP, Sushil Kumar Rinku from Jalandhar, who won the seat in a by-election, after the seat was vacated vacated following the demise of Congress MP Santokh Chaudhary.
