Lenders build war chest for better times: Key facts

Fund mobilisation through debt private placement rose by 22% to Rs 1,59,477 cr during first half of 2014-15.

In another indication of rising economic activity, fund mobilisation through debt private placement rose by 22% to Rs 1,59,477 crore during the first half of 2014-15.

According to the data collated by Prime Database, the rise has been primarily driven by demand from banks and from the private sector.

* Rs 78,485 crore

The funds raised by banks and financial institutions, which was the highest during the period under review, growing by 23% year-on-year

* Rs 70,031 crore

Placements by the private sector, up 36% year-on-year

* Rs 8,912 crore

Funds raised by the public sector through 5 issues, down 30% year-on-year

Top three mobilisers include:

HDFC : Rs 16,495 crore

REC: Rs 13,465 crore

PFC: Rs 12,182 crore
