Puducherry Lt Governor Kiran Bedi on Saturday went out on an ‘incognito’ ride on a two-wheeler to get a check of her union territory’s security status. After her visit, Bedi declared union territory safe for women “even at night”. Bedi took to Twitter and said that she felt that Puducherry is safe for women even at night. “Just back from a night round. Went pillion riding on a scooter camouflaged. Felt Pondicherry safe for women, even at night. Shall repeat..,” she said in her Tweet. “Found Puducherry reasonably safe at night. But will be improved,” she further said.
Bedi added that she would suggest a few measures which the police need to take to enhance security, and that people should connect with PCR/100 to voice their concerns. The former top cop also shared pictures of her taking rounds on scooter and bicycle and captioned it as, “From a midnight Incognito #Suraksha Round to the 6AM weekend #Swachh Round…”
Here’s what Bedi Tweeted:

Good job. But where is helmet?

However, Bedi, known for her no-nonsense attitude, faced some serious questions from Twitterati, as neither she nor the rider, were wearing a helmet. “Good job. But where is helmet?” Shweta Bhat, a Twitter user asked Bedi. “My humble request to the rider and you to wear a helmet.Your safety is also important,” another user wrote. Bedi is known for initiaves for women’s safety.
