The BJP-led NDA is all set to stake claim to form the government for the third time a day after Lok Sabha Election results were announced on Tuesday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi tendered his resignation along with the Union Council of Ministers to President Droupdi Murmu on Wednesday. An official statement by the Rashtrapati Bhavan said that President Murmu has accepted Modi’s resignation and the recommendation to dissolve the 17th Lok Sabha. However, Modi will continue in the office as the caretaker PM till the new government is formed. Amid hectic political activities in New Delhi, here are the latest updates on government formation and more:   

Modi’s oath-taking ceremony: There are reports that Modi is likely to take oath as Prime Minister for the third term at Rashtrapati Bhavan on June 8. The oath-taking ceremony will reportedly take place on 8:00 pm on Saturday, reports suggest.

Modi equals Nehru’s record: In the Independent India, this is the first time since Jawaharlal Nehru that any leader will be returning to the PM’s office for the third consecutive term.

NDA huddle vs INDIA huddle: While NDA was not able to repeat the 2019 feat but the final tally of 293 puts the alliance clearly in majority to form the government. Earlier in the day, all NDA partners held a key meeting in New Delhi at PM Modi’s official residence. JDU chief and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu were also in attendance. On the other hand, the INDIA Bloc, which got 233 seats out of 543 is also hold a key meeting.

NDA picks Modi: NDA’s critical meeting has concluded. The NDA leaders have unanimously elected Narendra Modi as their leader. The proposal said this was the first time in the last six decades that the country has chosen a leader for the third term with full majority.
