Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reiterated India’s unwavering support for Palestine and voiced deep concern over the ongoing conflict’s security and humanitarian toll.

In a message marking the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People on November 26, Modi called for an immediate ceasefire, the release of hostages, and an end to acts of terrorism. The Palestinian embassy in New Delhi welcomed the statement.

“India calls for an immediate ceasefire, an end to all acts of terrorism, the release of hostages and the sustained delivery of humanitarian assistance to the people of Palestine,” PM Modi said in his letter, as The Indian Express reported.

He noted the immense suffering caused by the conflict and reaffirmed India’s commitment to a negotiated two-state solution, envisioning a sovereign, independent Palestinian state coexisting peacefully with Israel.

“We welcome and highly appreciate the message of the Indian prime minister,” Abu Jazer said. He also commended India’s call for an immediate ceasefire and its ongoing humanitarian assistance to Gaza.

India has maintained a balanced stance since the conflict escalated in October 2023, condemning terrorism, including Hamas’ attacks on Israel, while consistently advocating dialogue and a two-state solution.

During his meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas at the United Nations General Assembly in September, Modi reaffirmed India’s historic support for Palestine on international platforms and its consistent humanitarian aid. Abbas expressed his gratitude for India’s assistance and its advocacy for a peaceful resolution.
