A four-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by a man living in her neighbourhood in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, on Monday.
Authorities swiftly responded to the situation, leading to the arrest of the accused, a 40-year-old male, following an encounter with police officers. According to official reports, the incident occurred in a village situated under the jurisdiction of the Jewar police station.
“The girl’s father lodged a complaint with police that the accused lured her to his home and then forced himself on her,” a police official said.

In response to this, a First Information Report (FIR) was registered at the local police station under the relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code, specifically Section 376 pertaining to rape, in addition to the provisions outlined within the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
Additionally, DCP (Greater Noida) Ashok Kumar said that multiple police teams were assembled and tasked with locating and arresting the accused.
“Around 8.30 pm, we received information that the accused was hiding in an orchard, which was surrounded by a police team. The police team appealed to him to surrender, but the accused opened fire on it,” Kumar said.
In a necessary act of self-defence, the police team responded, leading to the injury of the accused.
The accused was taken into custody and immediately transported to a medical facility for treatment. Legal proceedings are currently underway, he added.
