Assembly Election Results 2023 Impact Live: Five days after the declaration of Assembly election results in four states, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday announced the appointment of observers for three states –Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh– where the party emerged victorious in the recently-concluded Assembly elections. The party has appointed Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and BJP general secretaries Vinod Tawde and Saroj Pandey as observers for Rajasthan while Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Khattar will oversee the CM selection process in MP along with BJP’s OBC morcha chief K Laxman and national secretary Asha Lakra. On the other hand, the selection process will be overseen by Union ministers Arjun Munda, Sarbananda Sonowal and BJP general secretary Dushyant Gautam in Chhattisgarh.

The BJP’s decision to appoint observers for the three states follows a series of meetings of the party’s top leadership, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and party president JP Nadda in the national capital. There is intense speculation over the party possibly considering new faces to be appointed as chief ministers in the three states, a move that party insiders say may be aimed at the Lok Sabha elections next year. Meanwhile, Vasundhara Raje, Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Raman Singh continue to be in the reckoning as CMs in their respective states. The suspense over the chief ministerial pick in Madhya Pradesh may drag on for a couple more days with reports suggesting that a meeting of the legislature party of the BJP in the state has been called on Monday, December 11.
