Four friends travelling in a car were killed while one sustained serious injuries after their vehicle was rammed by a lorry in the Dhanbad district of Jharkhand, police said on Wednesday.
The incident took place around midnight Tuesday in Loharbarwa, approximately 190 kilometres from Jharkhand’s capital, Ranchi, as PTI reported.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (Govindpur range), Shankar Kanti, said that all four bodies were sent for post-mortem examinations, and the injured person was admitted to Nirmal Mahto Medical College and Hospital in Dhanbad.
According to Kanti, the group of five friends was travelling in a car on the wrong side of the six-lane National Highway-2 when they collided head-on with a truck coming from the opposite direction. The driver of the truck fled the scene with the vehicle after the incident, he said.
