Former Telangana Chief Minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) supremo K Chandrashekhar Rao was admitted to a private hospital early Friday after he slipped and fell at his farmhouse. The incident took place at 2:30 AM.
“He suffered a hairline fracture. Otherwise he is well,” a BRS party leader close to KCR’s family said, as quoted by The Indian Express.
Doctors are evaluating the condition of the 69-year-old BRS chief and it might require surgery, PTI reported, citing sources. A medical bulletin would be issued, they added.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed concern and prayed for his recovery.
“Distressed to know that former Telangana CM Shri KCR Garu has suffered an injury. I pray for his speedy recovery and good health,” PM Modi wrote on X.
Rao’s daughter and BRS MLC K Kavitha said he had suffered “minor injury”.
“BRS supremo KCR Garu sustained a minor injury and is currently under expert care in the hospital. With the support and well-wishes pouring in, Dad will be absolutely fine soon. Grateful for all the love,” Kavitha said on X.
The BRS suffered a crushing defeat in the recently concluded Telangana elections, with the Congress wresting power from it, bagging 64 seats. TPCC chief Revanth Reddy was sworn-in as the Chief Minister on Thursday.
